Pochette à Miel

Por fin puedo mostrarles este pequeño bolso del que me enamoré hace dos años cuanto lo vi en el blog "Des fils et une fille". Entonces no me animé a hacerlo porque no tenía idea por dónde empezar a hacerlo y fue hasta hace poco en que creí que ya era hora de intentarlo... Me costó algo de trabajo armarlo por lo pequeño que es, pero aquí está...

I can finally show you this little pouch from which I fell in love two years ago when I saw it on the blog "Des Fils et une fille". I did not dare to do it at that time because I had no idea where to start and it was until recently when I thought it was time to try it... It took me  some work to put it together, but here it is...

¡Me encanta el resultado! No está mal para haber sido el primero que hago, aunque creo que el próximo lo haré con hexágonos un poco más grandes :)

I love how it turn out! Not bad for being the first I do, but I think I will make the next one with slightly bigger hexagons :)

Como pueden ver, he reciclado este porta cepillos de porcelana y resultó estupendo para exhibir algunas de mis tijeras de bordado ;)

As you you can see,  I've recycled this porcelain toothbrush holder and is wonderful for displaying some of my embroidery scissors ;)

¡Por fin hace unos días comenzó a sentirse el clima otoñal aquí en el centro de México!

Espero que donde quiera que se encuentre, ustedes también estén disfrutando de buen clima :)

Goodbye, September!

Faltan pocos días para el fin de Septiembre y el inicio de Octubre, ¡mi mes favorito del año! :)

Just a few days until the end of September and the beginning of October, my favorite month of the year! :)

... Y mientras termino la pequeña labor otoñal en la que trabajo actualmente, les dejo con las fotos del alfiletero que hice el fin de semana.

... And while I finish the small autumnal work which I am doing nowadays, I leave you photos of the pincushion I made last weekend.

¡Me encanta el resultado! Valieron la pena las horas (sí, horas) que pasé frente a la máquina de coser haciéndolo. El resultado ha sido posible gracias a la ayuda del estupendo Tutorial Alfiletero Estrella del blog de Cristina, quién nos muestra con fotos bastante explícitas e instrucciones claras la manera de hacerlo...

I love the result! It has been worth the hours (yes, hours) that I passed with the sewing machine doing it. The result has been possible thanks to the help of the great Morning Star Pincushion Tutorial from Cristina's Blog, who shows us with quite explicit photos and clear instructions how to do it.

Para muchas de ustedes, expertas en patchwork, es sólo una pequeña labor. Pero para mi ha sido un reto el unir todas esas piezas haciendo coincidir las costuras sin coser sobre las puntas de la estrella :D...No es perfecto, pero estoy muy satisfecha con el.

For many of you, experts in patchwork, is just a small work. But for me it was a challenge to join together all these pieces without stitching the tips of the star :D. .. It's not perfect, but I am very satisfied with it.

Al lavar el alfiletero terminado, la tela roja destiño un poco y manchó el bordado :(

La llave herrumbrosa me la regaló una tía hace más de 10 años. La otra la compré en un tianguis de mi ciudad... El dedal era de mi abuelita materna.

The rusty key was a gift from my aunt, she gave it to me over 10 years ago. The other one I bought it on a tianguis of my town. ... The thimble was from my maternal grandmother.

Cestas Redondas - Gathered Round Basket

Pequeñas cestas redondas que colocadas una dentro de otra, como muñecas rusas, no ocupan mucho espacio...

Little round baskets that placed one inside the other, like russian dolls, do not require much space...

Por el momento estoy usando mis canastas en la fabricación de algunos hexágonos (para un proyecto de patchwork), pero igual se pueden utilizar con diversos fines.

At the moment I'm using my baskets in the making of some hexagons (for a patchwork project), but they can be used for several purposes.

Baby Toys...

Hice un par de juguetes para mi sobrinito (en realidad es hijo de una de mis sobrinas) quien cumplió su primer año la semana pasada y fueron parte del regalo de cumpleaños que le hice... Pude haberlos hecho mejor, pero creo que al bebé le gustaron y eso es lo que importa:).


I did a couple of toys for my little nephew (he's actually my niece's son) who celebrated his first birthday last week and were part of his birthday present... I could have made them better, but I think the baby liked them and that's what matters:).

El avioncito es un proyecto de un libro que tengo desde hace ya varios años, se podría decir que es un libro "vintage" ;). Aunque el libro tiene varios proyectos interesantes, este es el primero que hago. En la foto se ve la imagen del libro y del proyecto original. Le hice algunos cambios ya que el original es para niños mayores. El que yo hice no tiene llantas ni botones, para seguridad del bebé.


The little plane is a project from a book that I have had for several years, one could say it's a "vintage" book ;). Although this book has several interesting projects, this is the first one I do. The photo shows the book's cover and the original project. I made some changes since the original is for bigger children. The one I did doesn't have wheels or buttons for baby's safety.

El otro juguete es una pelota de tela que me encantó desde que la vi ya que es perfecta para las manitas de los bebes. Para hacerla me guié en un par de tutoriales que encontré en la red. Yo hice los patrones de acuerdo a las instrucciones del tuto en español del blog "El Baúl de Esmeralda", pero los corte y cosí de acuerdo al tutorial en inglés del blog "Finding my Way".


The other toy is a fabric ball that I loved since I saw it, because it's perfect for little babies's hands. I made it guided by a couple of tutorials I found on the net. I made the patterns following the instructions from the blog "El baúl de Esmeralda", but I cut and sewn the pieces according to the blog "Finding my way".

Calabacitas, pumpkins, zucche, citrouilles...

Me llevó algo de tiempo realizar estas calabacitas pero, quedé satisfecha con el resultado...

To make these little pumpkins took me some time but, I am satisfied of how they turned out...

Cada alfiletero está formado con hexágonos de 1.5 cms. de lado así que, tienen 10 cms. de diámetro, aproximadamente.

Every pincushion is formed by hexagons of 1.5 cms. per side so, every pincushion has 4 inches of diameter, approximately.
